Mobile Betting Dog racing and greyhound betting are a natural offshoot from horse racing. Dogs race on smaller tracks and generally run races at distances of less than a half mile. Race distances are quite specific, as dogs vary substantially in terms of how long they can sprint.

As in horse race betting, the basic wagers in greyhound racing are the win, place, and show wagers. When you bet to win, your dog has to cross the line first. When you opt for the place bet, you are paid back if your dog finishes first or second. Show wagering pays off if your selected dog finishes first, second, or third.

Beyond the basic bets are the exacta (selecting the first two dogs in order in a race), the daily double (the first dog in two consecutive races), and the trifecta (the first three dogs in order in a particular race). A well advised strategy in some of these betting formats is to “box” the bet. When you box two dogs in an exacta, you will win your bet if the two dogs finish first and second, regardless of which way.

When betting, always state the amount of bet, then the bet type (win, place, show, etc.) then the race numbers of the dogs.
