Forget the trip to the bookies – place your horse racing bets through your mobile phone with mobile betting.

Mobile Betting Horse racing betting is set apart from most forms of betting by the fact that it is done on a pari-mutuel system. This means that the racetrack gets its profits from the various betting pools, then pays winning ticket holders from the net value after take-out pools.

The basic betting pools are for win, place, and show. The punter needs his horse to finish first to cash a “win” bet; first or second to cash a “place” bet; and first, second, or third to cash a “show” bet. This makes the show bet the easiest on which to win, but the payoffs are correspondingly smaller.

All tracks also have what are usually called “exotic” bets. They are simply combination bets, which is to say you need more than one horse to perform well. In the Daily Double, you must select the winner of each of two races before the first race begins. In an exacta, you must pick the first two finishers in order in a race. In a trifecta, it’s the first three horses.

Many punters “box” these bets, so that the first two or three horses can finish in any order as long as they beat the other horses in the race.
